Day length decreases as the season progresses after the solstice. This can vary according to climate, culture or tradition. Chinese Calendar: Starts on or around 5th May, known as Lixia, ending around 7th August, known as Liqiu. Indian Calendar: May and June are Grishma Ritu (Summer) while Varsha Ritu, or Monsoon season are in July and August. Celtic Calendar: Known as Samhradh, this starts at the festival of Beltaine on 1st May, and continues until July.
