The use of Clove has been traced back to at least 2,000 years ago, used in China as a breath freshener, medicine and food. In the 1st Century, Cloves were used in Greece and Egypt, and by the 2nd Century they were recorded to be an important part of Ayurvedic medicine in India. Over the next 2 centuries they were traded throughout Europe and became a source of global trade conflict, such was their popularity! Demand is still high for Clove due to its use in cosmetics, food, and natural body care products.

HOW TO USE CLOVE ESSENTIAL OIL

Aromatherapy – Add drops to your diffuser to evoke warmth and comfort. Also, a great insect repellent!
Massage – Dilute very well (no more than 2%) to a carrier oil to help feel stronger after illness and ease digestion. Patch test recommended before use.
Hair – Dilute well in shampoo to soothe an itchy scalp and help promote hair growth.
Toothache – Soak a piece of cotton wool in half an eggcup of warm water with 2 drops of oil, and press against the painful tooth.
Cleaning – Follow a tested recipe to benefit from Clove’s mould-busting properties.
Candles and Soaps – Serves as a good middle (and occasionally top) note in blends.
