HISTORY OF NEROLI ESSENTIAL OIL

Although Neroli owes its name to the 17th Century princess of Nerola in Italy (who famously used it to perfume her bath and gloves), it had been used for hundreds of years prior to this. The Ancient Chinese used the fragrance as a symbol of purity and innocence, so was traditionally used in bridal bouquets. Ancient Egyptians also favoured Neroli for its spiritual and physical benefits, burning it as incense. In the 10th Century, it was brought into Spain by the Arabs, becoming the emblematic tree of Seville. But it was the princess of Nerola that launched Neroli into the limelight and its wider use in the perfume industry.
