Rose Geranium - Aroma
History: Geranium is native to South Africa, traditionally used by the Zulus and Hottentots for its therapeutic and antiseptic properties. The Native Americans were also reported to have used Geranium too, using the roots to make a tonic for toning and refreshing the skin. It was exported to Europe in the late 17th Century, and became particularly popular in the Victoria era. The first cultivation for distilling the essential oil was in France in the early 19th Century. Today, Geranium is an important oil in the perfumery industry as a more reasonable alternative to Rose.
